Graduates will create sustainable societies, having gained the skills for problem identification and solving from an engineering approach.

Students in the Faculty of Engineering pursue the specialties of each of the areas in the Department of Environmental Systems Sciences, the Department of Mathematical Engineering, and the Department of Architecture, focusing on the creation of sustainable societies. We nurture our students to develop leadership skills and the ability to act as generalists who will search out various problems in the world, and analyze, evaluate, and tackle these multifaceted problems from all angles.

■ Projects unique to each department

- Environmental Projects (Department of Environmental Systems Sciences)
Students will develop the skills to lead on the best solutions in any environment for “problems that have no answer” with our own PBL (problem-based learning) classes.

- Mathematical Engineering Projects (Department of Mathematical Engineering)
Students will develop the ability to use mathematical engineering methods to expose and solve issues in various fields such as the virtual realm, distribution and transportation, finance, and securities.

- Architectural Design Projects (Department of Architecture)
Students from all year levels participate together in these projects that make use of our faculty's expertise. Through participation in these projects, students develop the kind of teamwork, hands-on work action, planning ability, and perseverance required to accomplish tasks.
Our students receive high praise every year from their participation in external competitions and contests.

Department of Environmental Systems Sciences
Aim to become environmental professionals who will lead society towards sustainability.

Through a combined humanities and sciences curriculum, students in the Department of Environmental Systems Sciences will study from a wide ranging spectrum, beginning with the fundamentals relating to the environment and working towards implementing solutions to problems.
Studies in our department are characterized by research activities in cooperation with corporations, government, and NPOs, and environmental education for the construction of sustainable societies and environmentally conscious corporate management.

■ Examples of future career prospects
Leaders in charge of companies’ EMS (Environmental Management Systems) and CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility), Environmental Consultants, Science Communicators, graduate studies.

Department of Mathematical Engineering
Nurturing students to take advantage of mathematical skills to create sustainable societies from a broad perspective.

We cultivate data scientists who can see the essence of the issue from big data and resolve social problems by modeling natural and social phenomena with a base in mathematics, physics, and information. These skills will be applied in various fields, such as finance, securities, distribution and transportation, and virtual gaming.

■ Examples of future career prospects
Actuaries, manufacturing industries, financial institutions, information industries, data scientists, mathematical engineering researchers, mathematical technicians, space research, and graduate studies.

Department of Architecture
Architecture, space, and the environment. Students will develop their imagination for new architectural designs focusing on these keywords.

Students will learn about design in a wide domain, from furniture and interior space, to landscapes and urban spaces, while gaining specialized architectural skills. Students will develop a practical ability to take action through participation in domestic contests and projects.

■ Examples of future career prospects
Architectural design offices, construction companies, architecture related firms, interior design offices, shop design and development firms, advertising and printing firms, production and design companies, and graduate studies.
