Each department has its own research building that provides opportunities for practical learning, and these facilities have the latest equipment for carrying out research in diverse fields. There are also many active programs in coordination with industries, such as lectures by prominent business leaders and airship construction exercises.
In addition, at the Utsunomiya campus there is close cooperation both among the departments within the Faculty of Science and Engineering, as well as with the social science departments and faculties on campus.

At Utsunomiya Campus, home of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, the facilities include an airfield for model airplanes and a machine shop, and a campus LAN and wireless network provide mobile internet connectivity. In the Department of Biosciences, gene analysis equipment and electron microscopes are available for researching the genetics and cellular structures of organisms, and a range of mass spectrometers (GC-MS, GC-MS/MS, LC-MS/MDS, LC-TOF/MS) and nuclear magnetic resonance equipment allow analysis of the key components and environments of living things. This comprehensive learning environment provides opportunities for in-depth studies.

This tour is a voluntary program where students can experience the latest technologies being developed in the aerospace industry while tracing the footsteps of NASA in the field. The tour is held in the United States, which is home to many fields of aerospace engineering, and covers the latest technologies. It is led by professors of the Faculty of Science and Engineering's Department of Aerospace Engineering.
Previous on-site tours have included the NASA Johnson Space Center, NASA Kennedy Space Center, and the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. In addition to these tours, opportunities only possible in the field, such as lectures and luncheon meetings with astronauts, and seeing actual facilities and technologies with your own eyes, allow you to come into direct contact with the latest technologies and developments in aerospace.

We have enhanced the learning environment to increase students’ interest and motivation in manufacturing born from practical learning, with each student having access to the latest 3D-CAD software on one device each, as well as facilities such as our car maintenance training center. Through in-depth small-group guidance and easy to understand classes, we are nurturing engineers with the ability to apply their broad knowledge of fundamental concepts to deal with issues in this new age.

From sky sports to manned planetary exploration, students will learn the basics of aerospace engineering–the fundamental concepts required for aerospace jobs– through practical experiments and special projects. Together with foundation-level subjects, our curriculum highlights experiments and practical learning through required subjects which introduce students to the fundamental concepts of aerospace engineering such as drafting, fundamentals of engineering experiments, aerospace engineering seminars 1 & 2, and aerospace engineering experiments 1 & 2.

At the Department of Biosciences, our students develop a wide range of knowledge of–and techniques for dealing with–applied fields such as plants, microorganisms, animals, and food, while gaining an understanding of life phenomena at the molecular level. We have installed the latest research equipment and prioritize education and research involving quality experiments and cutting-edge technologies.
