Humanities and Culture

New programs and scholarships for international students will begin in the 2025 academic year!

<Faculty of International Studies, Department of International Studies Track for International Students starts!>
This program is designed for international students. Students must take English and Japanese as their foreign language.
EJU score criteria are not required! (Exams required)
After admission, students will receive an intensive Japanese language program, generous study support, and systematic career education, while enhancing their expertise and developing the skills required in a global society.

<Scholarships for International Students>
1. entrance fee waiver scholarship
International students enrolling in a regular course of study at the university are eligible for a full waiver of the entrance fee.
Certain conditions and an application at the time of application are required to use this system.
2. tuition fee waiver system for privately financed international students
Tuition is reduced or exempted for international students who meet certain conditions and are enrolled in a regular course of study, depending on their academic performance.
The tuition reduction rate ranges from 20-60% depending on the GPA of the semester immediately prior to the application.
The tuition reduction rate for the first semester of enrollment is a flat rate of 30%.

All of the following scholarship programs for international students can be used concurrently.

<Scholarship Programs for International Students>

1. Admission Fee Waiver Scholarship
This scholarship fully waives the admission fee for international students enrolling in our regular undergraduate or graduate programs.
To use this program, certain conditions must be met and an application must be submitted at the time of application.

2. Tuition Reduction Program for Privately Financed International Students
Applications are accepted twice a year (April and October). All international students who apply and meet the following two conditions are eligible for a tuition reduction of 20–60% based on their GPA from the previous semester (GPA criteria differ between undergraduate and graduate programs). For continuing students, the invoiced tuition fee reflects the reduced amount.

<Requirements>
Applicants must satisfy both of the following conditions:
① Be enrolled in a regular undergraduate or graduate program at our university and hold a “Student” residence status.
② Have an average monthly remittance of 90,000 yen or less (excluding tuition), or, if there is a financial supporter residing in Japan, that supporter’s annual income must be 5 million yen or less.

<Tuition Reduction Rates>
Tuition reduction rates vary according to the GPA of the semester immediately preceding the application.
*Note: A flat 30% reduction applies to the first semester after enrollment.

Graduate students with GPA 3.2 or above / Undergraduates with GPA 3.0 or above: 60% reduction

Graduate students with GPA 2.8 or above / Undergraduates with GPA 2.3 or above: 45% reduction

Graduate students with GPA 2.3 or above / Undergraduates with GPA 2.0 or above: 30% reduction

Graduate students with GPA 1.3 or above / Undergraduates with GPA 1.0 or above: 20% reduction

Applicants must have a total score of 250 or higher in the “Japanese (Reading, Listening/Listening and Reading Comprehension)” section of the 2024 or 2025 EJU (Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students); those who have passed the JLPT N1 are exempt. Applications based on the November 2025 EJU are also accepted; however, if the requirements are not met as a result, the application will not be accepted.
