Electrical, Electronic, and Communication Engineering
Focusing on electricity as energy and as a means of information transmission.
Electrical, electronic, and communications engineering concerns the study of electricity. “Electricity” in this context refers to both the energy used to operate machines and devices as well as the electrical signals used as a means of information transmission.
Research into electricity as a form of energy covers the development of economical and efficient energy generation systems as well as the study of new sources of electrical power. These new sources of power include natural phenomena such as sunlight, wind, and the rising and falling tides. Technology and developments for harnessing these sources of power are advancing towards making them available for use in daily life.
In the study of electricity as an information transmission tool, Japan is a world leader in fiber optic transmission technologies. Japan has been recognized for its achievements in realizing fiber optic network communication and DVD and Blueray disc technologies.
As research in these fields requires large amounts of funding, the development of such advanced technologies requires cooperation on an international level.
