Introduction of Studies Japanese Literature
Japanese Literature
Understanding Japan through studying its literature.
Japanese literature examines works of literature such as stories, novels, poetry, and plays to research the workings of the human condition in Japan. In their research, students of Japanese literature examine the author’s personal history and views as well as the historical background in which a work was written to think about essence of humanity and human society.
In the study of Japanese literature, research goes beyond the reading of literature to cover other aspects of Japanese such as phonology, grammar, and vocabulary. Even deeper research covers the psychological profile, national identity, and regional traditions of the Japanese people. Recent activity in the field has focused on the research of Japanese language as seen by people from other countries, as well as comparative studies between the literature of Japan and that of other countries.
