Remarks [Eligibility for Application]
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age by April 1, 2027; must not hold Japanese nationality or permanent residency status in Japan; must meet one of the criteria listed in (1) through (7) below; and must have achieved a score of 200 or higher in the "Japanese as a Foreign Language" section (excluding the "Writing" section) of the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU) administered by the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO), or have obtained N2 certification (equivalent to Level 2 under the old system) or higher in the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) administered by Japan Educational Exchanges and Services (JEES).
(1) Individuals who have completed (or are expected to complete) a 12-year school education curriculum in a foreign country, or individuals recognized by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology as possessing equivalent qualifications.
(2) Individuals awarded the International Baccalaureate Diploma by the International Baccalaureate Organization, a foundation established under the Swiss Civil Code
(3) Individuals holding the *Abitur* qualification, which is recognized as a university entrance qualification in the states of the Federal Republic of Germany
(4) Individuals holding the *Baccalauréat* qualification, which is recognized as a university entrance qualification in the French Republic
(5) Individuals holding the General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (GCE A-Level) or the International General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (International A-Level), which are recognized as university entrance qualifications in the United Kingdom
(6) Holders of the European Baccalaureate qualification, which is recognized as a university entrance qualification in European Union member states.
(7) Individuals who have completed (or are expected to complete) a 12-year curriculum at an educational institution accredited for its educational activities by an international accrediting body (WASC, ACSI, CIS, NEASC, or Cognia).
