Applying the theories and technologies art to society.
The primary topics of research in art theory include art science, crafting, broadcasting, theater, writing, photography, and architecture. “Art science” is the research of the theories surrounding art and art history, as well as for art appreciation. “Broadcasting” covers study of the practical production of video and audio media for broadcast, as well as related techniques of expression. “Theater” covers the study of acting and performance techniques, as well as technical skills, such as for lighting and sound. “Writing” comprehensively covers study of the written word in fields such as film and TV screen writing, novels, journalism, and advertising. “Photography” covers the theoretical study of the photograph as a means of expression. “Architecture” covers the study of building environments, including buildings and cities, with a special emphasis on their design.
Methods and theories of art are currently undergoing a transformation as new types of methods and technologies are developed, such as the use of computer graphics to create virtual 3D images.
