Osaka University continues to renew itself, breathing new life into all of its affairs, using the recent changes in Japan's system of university education as a particularly special opportunity to do so. After the merger with Osaka University of Foreign Studies on October 1, 2007, the university now consists of 11 Schools, 16 Graduate Schools, 5 Research Institutes, 2 Hospitals, 4 Libraries, 21 Joint-Use Facilities, 3 National Joint-Use Facilities, the WPI Immunology Frontier Research Center, the Center for Interdisciplinary Research and Education, Kaitokudo for the 21st Century, 4 Overseas Centers for Education and Research, and the Osaka University Nakanoshima Center.
