Located in a cityscape that has been selected as one of the 100 best urban landscapes in Japan, the university has two campuses: the North Campus, with full studio facilities for musicals, ballet, and stage staff practice, and the South Campus, an integrated campus building where all courses are connected and with specialized areas on each floor. The lesson rooms, practice rooms, and café are available for discounted use for graduates as well as enrolled students.

The university has a number of associated institutes including the Piano Art Academy, Opera Research Center, Ballet Research Center, Research Center for the Performing Arts Policies, and Music Therapy Institute, which are engaged in a wide range of research activities. Such activities include joint performances with orchestras in Japan and abroad, surveys and research on arts promotion, the operation of a digital archive on ballet performances, joint research with the Agency for Cultural Affairs, and research projects commissioned by local governments. The results of these activities are shared throughout the world.

The campus is home to the Teatro Giglio Showa, a full-scale theater with horseshoe-shaped seating, a rarity in Japan, that carries on the traditions of the grandest era of European opera theaters. With an orchestra pit and seating for 1,367 people, the theatre is capable of accurately representing everything from operas that require fine and detailed sound to general music performances that require a specific volume.
