Student Spotlight: Finding Freedom in Kyoto
Fatima Manahal, a first-year student from Faisalabad, Pakistan, shares her transformative journey at Kyoto University of Advanced Science (KUAS). Enrolled in the Faculty of Bioenvironmental Sciences with the goal of becoming a biomedical researcher, Fatima chose KUAS specifically for the safety and peace of mind that Japan offers.
For Fatima, the experience has been defined by a newfound sense of independence. She describes the liberation of living alone for the first time and the joy of exploring the lush nature of Kameoka by bicycle—freedoms she notes were less accessible in her home environment. Academically, she praises the curriculum’s focus on practical lab work over rote memorization. Fatima concludes that KUAS is an ideal environment for students to not only pursue their dreams but to discover their true selves.
