2021/09/17 Ryukoku University Japanese Culture and Language Program University news

Located directly in front of the Nishi-Hongwanji Temple, a World Heritage Site, Ryukoku Museum has a distinctively handsome exterior that fits right in with the historical cityscape. With a basement level and three floors above ground, the museum boasts a total exhibition space of approximately 1,000 square meters, with another 500 square meters allocated for storage. There are a series of exhibitions that showcase Buddhism from its birth to the present day. Much more than just another university museum, the Ryukoku Museum functions as a comprehensive Buddhist museum, spreading Buddhism and its teachings through various exhibitions to the public.

To commemorate the 10-year anniversary of the opening of the Ryukoku Museum, Ryukoku University will be holding a Talk Show on September 26th at its Omiya Campus in Kyoto. The Ryukoku University President, who also holds the position of the second director of the museum, will be talking with Japanese idol Ayaka WADA, an avid museum visitor and Buddhism enthusiast. The talk will be about the museum and Buddhism.
