Applications from outside Japan are accepted; however, entrance examinations held outside Japan are limited to partner institutions and similar venues. To be eligible to apply, applicants must have been awarded a degree equivalent to a bachelor’s degree by completing a program of at least three years at a university outside Japan. Except for applicants who possess a very high level of Japanese proficiency and have well-developed research plans, it is recommended that, whenever possible, candidates spend one year as a research student before applying. For the second application period, only international students residing in Japan are eligible to apply, and only those who possess a “Student” residence status as defined by the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act may submit an application. |
