(2) Those who, through an individual screening of admission eligibility by this university, are recognized as having academic ability equivalent to or higher than that of a high school graduate, and are expected to meet this standard by March 31, 2026 (applicants must turn 18 years of age by March 31, 2026). (a) Applicants who have foreign nationality (excluding those permitted as "Permanent Residents" and "Special Permanent Residents" of Japan). (b) Applicants who meet either (i) or (ii) below: (i) Applicants who have taken one of the following Japanese language examinations and are recognized as having sufficient Japanese proficiency to undertake coursework. Japanese Language Examinations: - Passed level N2 or higher of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT), administered by the Japan Foundation and Japan Educational Exchanges and Services (JEES). - Scored 220 or above in Reading Comprehension, Listening, and Listening-Reading Comprehension, and 25 or above in Writing in the Japanese as a Foreign Language subject of the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU), administered by the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO). Only EJU scores from the 2nd session in FY2024 (November) and the 1st session in FY2025 (June) are accepted. (ii) Applicants who have taken one of the following English language examinations and are recognized as having English proficiency, or who have completed secondary education in a country designated by this university. Note: This applies only to applicants to the Faculty of Global Communication. English Language Examinations: - CEFR B1 or higher. Qualifications and test results must be obtained after April 2023. - Cambridge English: 140 or above - EIKEN (Grade Pre-1 or above, regardless of pass/fail): 1950 or above - GTEC (CBT/official version): 930 or above - IELTS (Academic Module, any format): 4.0 or above - TEAP (4 skills): 225 or above - TEAP CBT: 420 or above - TOEFL iBT: 42 or above - TOEIC (4 skills) IP test not accepted: 790 or above Designated countries for secondary education: Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Botswana, Canada, Dominica, Ghana, Grenada, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, Lesotho, Liberia, Mauritius, Namibia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Philippines, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Solomon Islands, South Africa, Saint Christopher and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, United Kingdom, United States, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and territories of the UK, US, Australia, and New Zealand. (c) Applicants who have a strong desire to study at this university and intend to apply as their first-choice institution. Applicants must submit the required documents by email within the application eligibility confirmation period (1st round: deadline August 1 (Fri); 2nd round: deadline October 3 (Fri)), and then by post, to confirm eligibility.
