Approximately 60% of the full-time iCLA faculty are foreign nationals and almost all classes are held in English. iCLA’s Bachelor of International Liberal Arts has majors in Data Science, Global Business and Economics, Interdisciplinary Arts, Japan Studies, Political Science, and Psychology, and equips students with more than just technical knowledge, giving them the soft skills required to succeed in modern society. iCLA promotes an interdisciplinary approach and encourages its students to connect knowledge across disciplines with the aim of cultivating the critical thinking and cross-cultural communication skills necessary to tackle problems from complex and integrated viewpoints. In addition to the academic pathways in their chosen major, iCLA students have the additional freedom to choose any combination of elective courses they like from the subject areas of Sociology, Quantitative Reasoning & Natural Sciences, Physical Education, and Japanese Language. By doing so, iCLA students can discover their own potential and strive towards their career and personal goals.
At iCLA, students have the opportunity to study abroad at one of our partner universities for either one semester or a full academic year. iCLA collaborates with over 60 universities across more than 30 countries and regions, most of which offer a wide range of courses in English.
Students can choose their study destinations from our extensive network of exchange programs, tailored to their academic goals. Additionally, to maximize the study-abroad experience, iCLA provides friendly one-on-one consultations with faculty and staff.
Through studying abroad, students can broaden their international perspectives, explore new and exciting countries or regions, connect with like-minded individuals worldwide, and enrich their cross-cultural experiences. Another highlight is that the exchange program operates on a reciprocal tuition waiver basis, making it a cost-effective option for studying abroad.
Note: Some partner universities may limit exchange opportunities to specific faculties.
The courses in iCLA’s Japanese Language Program focus on all four skills: speaking, reading, writing, and listening, for well-rounded language acquisition. iCLA students are able to deepen their understanding of Japanese culture as they learn to discuss various cultural and social topics in Japanese. We keep our class sizes small to provide ample time for speaking practice and individualized instruction. Your language learning journey begins at iCLA, and our instructors are there to support you all the way.

Join our cultural workshops and experience the Japanese arts. You can learn how to perform tea ceremony in a traditional tatami room, go on excursions to the Mount Fuji region, learn a martial art, write Japanese calligraphy, and much more. Our workshops are taught by highly experienced and qualified instructors who are passionate about their art. Learning doesn’t just happen inside the classroom, so we encourage you to test your limits and try something new!

The defining feature of the iCLA curriculum is its diversity. Our liberal arts education is designed to allow students to connect their knowledge across disciplines. iCLA offers an array of courses covering Data Science, Global Business and Economics, Interdisciplinary Arts, Japan Studies, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, Quantitative Reasoning & Natural Sciences, Japanese Language, and Physical Education. Students connect the knowledge gained from each discipline throughout their degree, culminating in their Graduation Research Project (GRP). This process hones the critical thinking, communication and self-expression skills required in a future career as an internationally active global citizen capable of becoming a change maker in today’s fast evolving society.
