As Japan's first fully-realized business faculty at a women's university, the Faculty of Global Business strives to cultivate businesswomen who can excel as key figures of global society.
Through systematic study of business knowledge in both Tokyo and Boston, the Department of Business Design offers collaboration on projects with companies and communities through practical learning experiences. The Department of Accounting and Finance, the first of its kind at a women's university, will train human resources who can create new businesses through the acquisition of various professional qualifications.
In the Department of Business Design, students actively engage with companies and communities through activities such as seminars as a form of Project-based Learning, or PBL. Through these activities, they will learn to create new values and cultivate their business sensibilities.
And all students in the Department of Business Design go to the university's Showa Boston campus for study abroad in the first semester of their second year. Students learn the "5 aspects of business" taught in English to provide them with English skills for use in the global marketplace while also cultivating their international outlook and communication skills. Students with exceptional grades may remain in Boston longer for study abroad at partner universities.
We seek people who understand the educational goals and academic requirements of Showa Women’s University, those who scientifically analyze the economics of society through knowledge of accounting and finance, those who discover issues on their own and come up with solutions, and those who look to utilize their global point of view and knowledge in their career plan.
Furthermore, we accept people who can successfully complete the course of study of the department.
We therefore recruit applicants through versatile and comprehensive entrance methods.
1. Building problem-solving skills through study of the "5 aspects of business"
Systematic study of the "5 aspects of business" cover customer development, organizational development, business resource development, outlook development, and economic concepts, from basic principles to applications.
2. Shift gears with study abroad in Boston!
All students in the Department of Business Design study abroad at Showa Boston in the first semester of their second year. They will study the "5 aspects of business" taught in English and develop global perspectives which apply to future business activities.
3. Experience real-world business through "Practical Projects"
A businessperson active in the working world teams up with an instructor to provide "Business Research" programs using true-to-life case studies. Students also go off-campus to collaborate with companies while actively learning actual business practices in "Project Exercises". Learning activities such as these equip students with skills for critical thinking and taking action.
After studying the basics of topics such as economics, business, and finance, students study to acquire qualifications for fields such as bookkeeping and financial planning to further develop their knowledge of accounting and finance. In addition, practical projects cultivate real-world business experience.
