国際医療福祉大学 | International University of Health and Welfare
Japan’s first comprehensive university of health and welfare
The International University of Health and Welfare (IUHW) was founded in Ohtawara City, Tochigi, in 1995. Established as the country’s first comprehensive university of health and welfare, IUHW opened a School of Medicine at its Narita campus in 2017, and opened a new campus in Akasaka in Tokyo in 2018. There are currently 11 undergraduate departments and 26 graduate departments spread across 6 campuses. In 2020 the university is scheduled to open the International University of Health and Welfare Narita Hospital, a world-class hospital hub that will become the university’s 6th affiliated hospital and the main hospital for the School of Medicine.
One of the main features of IUHW is a multi-job collaborative education that utilizes a wealth of affiliated facilities.
【Provides Unprecedented Medical Education to Nurture Globally Minded Physicians Equipped with Comprehensive and Advanced Skills.】
Unlike passive 20th century education in which students simply memorized textbooks and attended lectures in which lecturers merely reeled off information in a unilateral matter, students at IUHW are able to engage in participatory and student-driven active learning.

・Classes conducted mainly in English in Year 1 ~ 2.
・Curriculum integrated the basic medicine and the clinical medicine.
・Medical Education Simulation Center; one of the biggest in the world.
・Active learning with dividing 140 students into 20 groups.
