Aichi Shukutoku University is a comprehensive university, with 12 faculties and 2 campuses, located in Aichi Prefecture.
■The Department of Global Culture and Communication in the Faculty of Global Culture and Communication offers two majors: a Major of Language Studies and a Major of Multicultural and Tourism Studies. In addition to acquiring knowledge about different cultures, students can improve their communication capabilities using various languages and improve their analytical abilities through fieldwork and other activities.
■The Faculty of Business is based on the four areas of business administration, commerce, accounting, and economics, and actively incorporates active learning to provide students with both theoretical and practical knowledge and skills that can be applied in the real world of business.
■The Faculty of Global Communication provides students with opportunities to acquire advanced English language proficiency, English communication skills, and the ability to find and solve problems, while also studying the essence of communication, Japanese culture and traditions, and world affairs from a variety of perspectives. With a global perspective, the Faculty of Global Communication equips students with the ability to express accurate and persuasive opinions to the world, along with English language proficiency, communication skills, and problem-finding and problem-solving skills that can be applied to any situation.

What is needed in today’s rapidly globalizing society is the cultivation of individuals with deep insight into cross-cultural understanding and practical English skills.
The Faculty of Global Communication aims to equip students with the ability to communicate accurate and persuasive opinions from a global perspective, English proficiency adaptable to any situation, and problem-identification and problem-solving abilities. It seeks to nurture global citizens who serve as bridges between people and between regions.

In their second year, all undergraduate students will study abroad for 6 to 10 weeks at an overseas university with the aim of connecting their studies to future learning themes. Students select a study abroad destination based on their interests and passions and interact with local students. The university subsidizes a flat fee of 400,000 yen for the study abroad program.
■Japanese Popular Culture
This is a class where students learn about Japan’s relationship with the world through popular culture. Students learn about the history of Japanese anime, manga, games, music, fashion, and movies. Students will research how non-Japanese people feel about these expressions of culture.
Students will learn how Japanese popular culture changed the world and how Japan connects to it.
■Advertising
This class looks at the history and influence of advertising, covering various theories of advertising and persuasion.
Advertising across different media will be examined, from magazines to television to social media and so-called viral marketing, and students will learn about different ethical issues and controversies related to advertising.
■Modern Japan
Sushi, anime, cars-the image of Japanese culture is widespread all over the world. However, by studying the history of Japan, students can gain a deeper understanding of the characteristics and essence of this island nation in the Far East. In this class, students will learn more about the essence of Japanese culture through lectures and discussion.
■Intercultural Communication
This class examines the causes of misunderstandings and conflicts that arise when people from different cultural backgrounds interact, as well as the culture shock experienced when moving between cultures, focusing primarily on examples from English-speaking countries. It aims to enhance awareness of different cultures and cultivate the ability to solve problems in diverse environments.

In the course "Japanese Performing Arts", students will learn about Japanese culture and its great influence on the world—from stage art and architecture to manners and etiquette. Through the use of a variety of audio and visual materials, and by learning and practicing practical skills, students develop the ability to talk about Japanese culture in English.
