Students will learn about the languages and cultures of various countries and regions, including Asia, Europe and North America. They will thus develop an understanding of the key features of international society. At the same time they will develop foreign language communication skills in order to transmit the knowledge they gain to the rest of the world. This is part of their training that will enable them to play an active role in cultural exchange activities, international cooperation and business settings, either domestically or overseas. In accordance with their personal interest, students will select a major from a wide variety of possible fields such as humanities and social sciences. The flexibility of this approach is the great merit of our system.
The world is currently facing serious global challenges. Our aim is to educate students to be able to understand these problems from a scientific point of view and to enable them to contribute to the creation of a society that is environmentally friendly and sustainable. In order to achieve this, students need to think about the linkage between society and environment from many points of view. The students will choose their study course depending on their interests and will earn specialized knowledge and techniques. Furthermore, students will develop a flexible way of thinking and practical skills (general abilities to handle environmental problems) from what they learn in other accredited courses.
Along with the great changes occurring in the world's social systems, recent actual issues include the solution of food problems and the improvement of eating habits around the world. Our society needs people who can solve our food safety and food supply issues here in Japan and in developing countries. Our objective is to help students to develop effective techniques and specialized knowledge to solve these food and health issues confidently. They will also have the opportunity to take exams to become registered dietitians and work at the forefront of food and health science, as well as gain knowledge about environmental science and international society. We aim to produce graduates who can proactively tackle core societal food and health issues.
