비고 (1) Applicants who possess non-Japanese nationality
(2) Applicants who meet one of the criteria [1] through [6] below and have been enrolled in elementary schools, junior high schools, high schools, or secondary education schools as defined by the School Education Act of Japan for a cumulative total of no more than 3 years.*
* Enrollment at international schools in Japan and overseas Japanese schools recognized by the Minister of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) is considered equivalent to enrollment in an elementary school, junior high school, high school, or secondary education school as defined by the School Education Act of Japan for the purposes of these eligibility guidelines.
[1] Individuals who have, outside of Japan, completed (or expect to complete by March 31, 2020) a standard 12-year school education course curriculum or an equivalent curriculum as designated by the Minister of MEXT. Students who expect to graduate in March 2020 from a high school or secondary education school as defined by the School Education Act of Japan, but will not have been enrolled in elementary schools, junior high schools, high schools, or secondary education schools as defined by the School Education Act of Japan for a cumulative total of more than 3 years are also eligible.
[2] Individuals who have completed (or expect to complete by March 31, 2020) an educational program outside of Japan equivalent to high school which has been approved by the Minister of MEXT.
[3] Individuals designated by the Minister of MEXT (possessing or expecting to possess by March 31, 2020 a qualification of the International Baccalaureate Diploma, Abitur, Baccalaureate, or GCE A-Level that is recognized by universities outside of Japan as an entrance qualification).
[4] Individuals who have passed or expect to pass by March 31, 2020 the High School Equivalency Exam (including the formerly-administered University Entrance Qualification Exam) in accordance with its administration rules AND will have reached 18 years of age by March 31, 2020.
[5] Individuals who have completed or expect to complete by March 31, 2020 a 12-year course curriculum at an educational institution
accredited by an international accrediting organization (WASC, CIS or ACSI).
[6] Individuals who have been recognized, through an individual screening review by Ritsumeikan University, as having an academic ability equivalent to or greater than that of a person who has graduated from high school AND will have reached 18 years of age by March 31, 2020.
* Regarding [6] above, Korean senior schools (Chosen Kokyu Gakko) have been approved by Ritsumeikan University for submissions of applications.
For meeting criteria [6] above, individuals must request Ritsumeikan University to consider their personal academic history to determine whether they can apply. For the documentation required and the application period for making such requests, contact the Admissions Office.
(Notes) A. When an individual's course of studies totals less than 12 years, they must have completed (or expect to complete by March 31, 2020) a "preparatory educational course for enrollment in a Japanese university" as designated by the Minister of MEXT.
B. Individuals who have completed a course of studies of less than 12 years and have not completed the abovementioned preparatory education may still fulfill these requirements if they are from a country or school type designated by the Minister of MEXT.
C. Individuals who have skipped grades or otherwise completed a 12-year course in less than 12 years can fulfill these requirements if at the end of their educational course they have officially completed the equivalent of at least 12 years of education.
(3) Individuals who have earned sufficient scores on the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU) administered by the Japan Student Services Organization in subjects as set by each university college, in the following exam periods.
