Approximately 30% of our faculty's students are international, representing countries from around the world (2024 intake). With all classes taught in English, Japanese students are highly motivated to master the language. Furthermore, each international student is paired with a Japanese “buddy" during their first semester to help them adjust to their new life in Japan. Students refer to one another as the FILA Family, building lifelong friendships that transcend nationality and culture.
We offer two unique scholarships for international students. By combining them, students can study for as little as approximately 300,000 yen per year. For details on eligibility and application procedures, please check the application guidelines for each admission: https://www.soka.ac.jp/en/admissions/application/undergraduate/
All FILA students can live in the international dormitories during their first year, where they live and interact with both Japanese and other international students. The dorms have resident assistants (RAs), upper-class students who support new students, to ensure a smooth transition to life in Japan. Most students move to apartments near the university in their second year, either living alone or with roommates.
