In October 2010, Tokyo University of Social Welfare was featured in media as a university with the highest employment rate in the liberal arts universities in Japan. At the university, there are many courses for international students from a preparatory program of Japanese language to graduate schools. We hope oversea students to enroll and learn Japanese language, Japanese cultures, and special subjects to be active in Japan and home countries.

The Japanese Language Program, Tokyo University of Social Welfare is a preparatory program for international students who want to enter Tokyo University of Social Welfare as regular students. Students are expected to obtain proficiency in Japanese language (especially in reading and writing) which will be required when they study at universities in Japan.
The program also offers students the opportunity to deepen their understanding of Japan through its social, industrial and cultural phenomena. The program has two academic semesters and admits students twice a year-Spring and autumn. Our experienced teachers will conduct interactive, i.e., discussion-oriented classes for international students, according to each student’s language ability.
Depending on your efforts, it is possible to go on to undergraduate course of the university. If your ability of Japanese is not sufficient, there is a route to go on to the undergraduate course after learning as a research student of the university.

Periods of admissions are April and September. Term of study for completion is 2 years.
Compulsory subjects: Japanese A (orthography), Japanese B (reading), Japanese C (sentence structure), Japanese D (conversation), Japanese E (writing), Japanese F (listening), Geography of Japan, Japanese Literature, Manners and Customs, Introduction to Social Welfare, Cultures and Languages of USA 1, Cultures and Languages of USA 2, Seminar of Information Processing
Elective subjects: World history, Politics and Economics, Introduction to Programming 1, Introduction to Programming 2, Mathematics, Biology
Required numbers of units are at least 48 units of compulsory subjects and 4 units of elective subjects, and 52 units in sum.
To successfully complete the preparatory program of TUSW for international students, you must acquire designated 52 units or more. After a certification of completion, “Diploma” shall be awarded.
