Faculty information

Training teachers required for the modern era

At the Department of Education, there are courses to train school nurses and teachers of elementary schools, junior high schools, high schools, and others. Its aim is to produce excellent educators who cherish the children and students in their care.

Students of the Tokyo University of Social Welfare study in a system providing personal care and attention, and upon graduation, can apply their acquired knowledge and experiences on the job, giving guidance and education to children with attention to their individual needs.

The Tokyo University of Social Welfare produces confident teachers highly capable in the teaching methods of the university.

Students in the School of Education are grouped into one of the following five majors after enrollment, in accordance with the certification, teaching licenses and/or qualifications they wish to acquire.
1) Elementary School Teacher Major
2) School Nurse & Health Science Teacher Major
3) Educational Psychology Major
4) English Teacher Major
5) Information Science Teacher Major

Cultivating students who can contribute internationally, working as a bridge between Japan and abroad.

This programs aims to increase students’ multicultural awareness and Japanese language and communication skills. After acquiring strong Japanese teaching skills, as well as practical teaching skills, students graduate, finding employment as Japanese teachers at Japanese language schools and other Japanese academic institutions both within Japan and abroad. This program also cultivates human resources who can contribute to the global society on an international scale, using their strong Japanese language skills at various companies and working as a bridge between Japan and the rest of the world.
