This faculty aims to equip students with the specialist economics and management related knowledge required to view economic, management and societal problems from a global perspective, nurturing students into workers and members of society with strong problem identification and resolution skills and a methodological mind. Prestigious research team members and entrepreneurs give classes that are closely tied to contemporary business issues and in tune with what’s going on in the business world right now.
Taking advantage of the economically abundant Ariake Campus location
The Ariake Campus is in an amazing location and has cooperative ties with a lot of the major companies and businesses in the area. Students in the Department of Economics study economics while working hands-on at a company on a long-term ‘Industry-Academia Cooperative Seminar’ internship. Through visiting some of the numerous companies located near the campus, students in this department get the opportunity to experience economics at the front lines of the business world.
Lectures by entrepreneurs and leaders at the forefront of the business world
Through experiencing current events taking place at the forefront of the business world and applying the knowledge learnt in class, students are able to better understand the problems facing companies today.
Past lectures: lectures have been held by guest speakers from a broad range of fields and companies, including Panasonic, The Toyota Foundation, the Tokyo Stock Exchange, as well as major railway, advertising, beverage manufacture and construction firms.

Through the empirical and theoretical analysis and understanding of economic events facing contemporary society, the Department of Economics aims to cultivate the precise skills of judgment and insight necessary for students to successfully tackle our rapidly globalizing society. Students study the basics and foundations of economics through to economic policy theory, international financial theory and game theory, using small elite seminars to equip themselves with logical thinking skills and strong problem identification and resolution skills.

Through research into the methods of new companies starting up in today’s globalizing economic society, this Department fosters strong moral ethics and motivation, equipping students with a sound business mind and specialist knowledge. Students study a broad range of practical courses, from the foundations of management through to management strategy, marketing, accounting and finance etc.
