Learning about welfare through practical study useful in the real world

The College of Integrated Human and Social Welfare has three schools: the School of Social Welfare, the School of Education and Welfare, and the School of Practical Psychology. These three schools share the tradition of the "welfare mindset" embodied in the concept of "Shukutoku (virtuous) welfare". At this long-running school of welfare, students learn how to supports people's daily lives through practical study which they can apply in the real world. Featuring a substantial guidance program, Shukutoku University can boast of its excellent results students achieve when taking qualifications such as the Social Worker National Exam and the Teaching Staff Exam.

At Shukutoku University, students are provided with a variety of practical learning opportunities, such as off-campus welfare and education practice, to emphasize a practical education that reflects the needs of, and will be useful to society. School of Social Welfare
Learning welfare for bringing people happiness

In the School of Social Welfare, students learn general social welfare concepts such as welfare for the elderly and nursing care insurance systems as they strive to become social welfare workers and mental health care workers. Seven study programs are available, from the Social Welfare program for becoming a social worker, to the Welfare Business program. Off-campus practical learning is held from the first year where students will cultivate practical skills useful in real-world welfare work.
Shukutoku University prides itself on its substantial practical learning opportunities and guidance that has resulted in top-class results nationwide among universities for the number of students passing the Social Worker National Exam.

School of Education and Welfare / School Education Course
Supporting children from the perspectives of education and child welfare

In the School Education Course of the School of Education and Welfare, topics studied include "Developmental Support", "Children's Social Welfare", and "Disabled Children's Education" for supporting the growth of children, focusing on their learning and studying from infancy up through elementary school age.
Students in this program strive to join professions such as special needs educators, elementary school teachers, and nursery school teachers.

• Nursery School Teacher Qualification 
• Type 1 Kindergarten Teacher's License 
• Type 1 Elementary School Teacher's License 
• Type 1 Special Education School Teacher's License 
• Certified Psychologist etc.
* Basically, students may pursue up to 2 related licenses or qualifications related to their studies, but this may vary according to the circumstances of the student's studies.
* The national government limits the number of available Nursery School Teacher qualifications, so in some cases it may be possible that students cannot enroll in their desired licensing or qualification program.

School of Education and Welfare / Health Education Course
Supporting the growth of children, focusing on the health of their mind and body

In the Health Education Course of the School of Education and Welfare, students focus on knowledge and skills related to the mental and physical health of children in the developmental years of junior high and high school. They also study skills for supporting the healthy mental and physical development of children through exercise.
Students in this program strive to join professions such as health and physical education teachers and school nurses.

School of Practical Psychology
Pursuing a deeper understanding of people and acquiring the knowledge of how people can live together in harmony

In the School of Practical Psychology, general psychology subjects are studied in addition to learning in 3 areas for responding to the needs of society (clinical psychology, developmental psychology, and interpersonal psychology). There are also a wide range of practical and specialized subjects available such as criminal psychology and consumer psychology that provide greater learning opportunities than other universities. Practical learning, seminars, and research subjects are also offered that focus on fundamental experimentation and practice in psychology to equip students with practical skills.
