Developments in digital technology mean we can create and access information with relative ease, anywhere and at anytime through the use of mobile phones etc. Companies now require people throughout their business who are capable of creating the necessary information, and making it user-friendly to search for and use. Students in the Faculty of Media and Information Resources will learn the latest in media technology and the expertise necessary to use media to create and utilize information.
Based on the concept that Information Resources refers to the creation, or extraction of necessary ‘information’, students use their major subjects to learn how to manage and utilize ‘information’ such as photos, graphics, video footage and other visual media, as well as audio media such as music and background sounds, library books, magazines, company records, archives and other recorded information, and actual things such as museum exhibits.
While these 3 programs cover a variety of different information resources, students can study not only their chosen specialist field but also related classes in the other two programs. For example, students can make a video in the Audio-Visual Media Program while at the same time taking a class from another program to learn how to distribute what they have created via a network, manage and store it. One of the main features of the Faculty of Media and Information Resource is that it offers a comprehensive focus from creation and distribution through to data storing and reutilization.
The sophisticated video equipment in the Video Studio allows students to learn about actual video creation through practical learning and hands-on experience.
The sound effects chosen and the way in which they are arranged are paramount, and altering them even slightly can completely change the image and vibe of the finished video creation.
At the Design Studio students use the latest facilities and equipment to acquire the skills and techniques required to create smartphone applications, web design and animation.
Students on this program learn the knowledge and techniques associated with audio and visual expression by experiencing production courses in commercials, video messages, music videos, TV dramas and documentaries etc. They also acquire technical knowledge relating to mass media and journalism.
In addition to creating web and graphic designs and animation, students also learn about computer systems, security, network construction and other areas that work hand in hand in supporting these designs etc.
In addition to learning about search methods to swiftly find and collect a variety of information, students also study techniques to organize information, as well as the knowledge and practical skills required to work in general companies, libraries, museums, information centers and archive offices.
