In order to survive out in the working world everyone needs to have some kind of ‘job’, and learning about economics is necessary to understanding the various environments surrounding jobs and the workforce. Most jobs require you to work with others and most people work in a variety of different companies and organizations. Students studying management learn the knowledge required to make organized groups with others and get the job done.
In this department students learn the foundations of both economics and management over the course of their first two years. A lot of other universities separate these two fields into different departments but in reality the two disciplines are very closely related and it can be hard to cope unless students get a deep understanding of both economics and management at the same time. Surugadai’s framework goes beyond just the study of economics or management, offering subjects that allow students to garner a comprehensive study in both disciplines.
The Faculty of Economics and Management uses its strong connection with the outside world to offer unique classes and workshops to ensure students are able to successfully make the transition into finding a job and becoming a member of society. In addition to the various initiatives aimed at enhancing students’ employability, such as volunteer work and project-style classes, career support staff also work closely with seminar supervisors to provide students with thorough individual career counseling and support. The result of this extensive career and job hunting support can be clearly seen in the success of students as they head out into the working world.
Through workshops students research and gain a better grasp of the knowledge taught by teachers in their specialist fields. Being able to broaden your perspective is one of your greatest assets.
