2022/02/10 Ryukoku University Japanese Culture and Language Program University news

In an effort to combat the social issue of ‘regional revitalization’, higher education institutions in both Japan and Taiwan have been developing collaborative projects between industry, government and academia, as well as regional collaborative projects and the fostering of human resources that can succeed on a regional stage. These projects take into consideration various different perspectives and standpoints. In an endeavor to expand international collaboration between universities, four universities from Japan (Kochi University, Shinshu University, Chiba University and Ryukoku University) will join with six universities from Taiwan (National Chi Nan University, National Cheng Kung University, Sun Yat-sen University, Tunghai University, National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology and National Taiwan Ocean University) to develop a new platform that promotes academic exchange, educational collaboration and industrial development. Presidents from these universities held an online signing ceremony on Tuesday, November 16th last year.

At Ryukoku University we are using the various information shared between these universities (many-to-many communication) to try and solve the different social issues facing the region. While taking into account the current situation with covid-19 the university also plans to safely and securely work within the area to try and combat some of the issues the two countries have in common. Teachers will exchange information on education and research with lecturers at member universities in Taiwan, and students who are interested in the various social issues will be able to participate in study tours. We will also continue to deepen our ties and collaborations with the other three Japanese universities mentioned above, all of which have excellent achievements in the field of regional cooperation. These universities deal with different social issues regarding their locations – urban, mountainous and coastal. Ryukoku is working on social, academic and research collaboration initiatives under various topics that are in line with these distinct areas.
