Hello Everyone!
Do you know about the traditional Japanese ‘Coming of Age’ Ceremony?

In Japan, in the year you turn twenty, you are invited to participate in a ‘Coming of Age’ Ceremony to welcome you into the age of adulthood.

Ryukoku University Coming of Age Ceremony

Ryukoku University held its first coming of age ceremony 46 years ago in 1976. It started in an effort to accommodate students who were unable to return to attend the ceremonies in their hometowns. Since then it has turned into one of the university’s main events and on occasion has welcomed more than 1,000 participants.
In addition to the impressive ceremony giving students the opportunity to be acknowledged as newly recognized adults, it is a chance to make lasting memories from their university life.

We currently find ourselves in the middle of a worldwide pandemic and it is especially important that during these testing times we support each other and stay connected. This year Ryukoku held a coming of age ceremony online for the first time.

You can view the online ceremony at the following YouTube channel.
