In 21st century society, where globalization accelerates, the most essential issue or theme is to deepen relationships with countries and regions around the world and learn to live together with people who have different cultures, ideas, and languages. In reality, however, there are many barriers to be overcome, such as environmental and social issues, ethnic conflicts, and the North-South Problem. Based on a small group education system, the Faculty of Global and Inter‐cultural Studies aims to nurture women who can play an active role in the international community as global citizens beyond national boundaries, with a broad perspective, ideas, and the ability to take action free of the nationalistic mindset.
Through highly advanced education and research in the field of international exchanges, the Faculty aims to develop people with the comprehensive knowledge needed in the era of globalization, which transcends the boundaries of specialized fields.
In the new programs beginning in 2014, students can learn about international exchange and choose to focus on international cooperation, cultural exchange, or the human environment. In the first year, in general education courses, they will gain the basic knowledge necessary for understanding international exchange, and at the same time, in courses such as “An Introduction to Research” and “Introductory Training,” learn how to study at the university level and acquire a sense of the problems in the contemporary world. Next, based on their interests, the students will choose their program of study and start taking major subjects. In summary, students first learn the basics and then proceed with their major.
