Making our Future Stronger Through the Traditions of Philosophy

Practical education to be able to create a better life and environment for all

Study in the Faculty of Human Life Design concerns supporting the happiness of all people throughout their lives and the building of living environments for a brighter future. Students in the faculty will be asked to consider the creation and management of lifestyles, health, living, and environments as "Life Design". The Faculty strives to equip students with advanced professional skills and comprehensive approaches through the accumulation of broad knowledge and practical learning for the realization of a richer life and environment in the 21st century.

Department of Human Care and Support, Human Care and Support Course
Striving for excellence in the fields of social welfare, nursing care, and mental health care

Recent major social and economic changes have brought about a whirlwind of changes to laws and regulations surrounding social welfare. This environment has created a strong demand for professionals with the advanced skills to actively address the effects of these changes.
The Human Care and Support Course aims to cultivate social workers, caregivers, and mental health care professionals through a specialized curriculum that provides support for the acquisition of relevant certifications from the time of enrollment onwards.

Department of Human Care and Support, Social Work and Child Care Course
Training child care professionals

In the Social Work and Child Care Course, students learn about the most pressing needs facing children today through a broad and in-depth program. Some examples of the issues covered include problems surrounding poverty such as child abuse and nursery school waitlists, and their relations to the background and causes of falling birthrates. Students will learn how children can be raised happily and healthily, the kinds of support families raising children can receive, and a better understanding of how to support children and child-raising. The curriculum also includes support which allows students to pursue specialized employment, such as for the acquisition of nursery teacher and kindergarten teacher certifications as well as exam qualifications for social workers.

Department of Health Care and Sports
Aspiring to educate skilled leaders in the fields of sports and health

The Department of Health Care and Sports focuses on training students to become leaders of promoting health through physical activity for people of all ages and capabilities. Students can further learn systematically within their interests in the four courses of Training Science, Community Sports, Children's Health Science, and Universal Sports.

Department of Human Environment Design
Creating comfortable living spaces with high quality

Modern society is currently experiencing aging populations and the diversification of lifestyles, and solutions to the demands caused by these trends are found in the human-friendly concepts of "Universal Design". The goal of Universal Design is to bring together separate areas such as architecture, environment, goods, medicine, and transportation to consider them as a comprehensive whole for building a richer life for all. The Department of Human Environment Design is a unique program within Japan that focuses on the individual in the comprehensive study of design, in fields ranging from architecture to housing and local products.
