Training skilled specialists with comprehensive guidance in both practical work and classroom exercises

At the Division of Social Welfare of the Department of Social Welfare, our goal is to train individuals who can meet the social welfare needs of our ever-changing modern society. Graduates will be equipped with the practical skills necessary to enter the workforce immediately. The training we provide for Certified Social Workers is notable in that our programs exceed the legally-required period of study as we cultivate highly-skilled social workers.

In addition, we also focus on support to get national qualifications of Certified Social Workers and Psychiatric Social Workers which must be the identity of the specialists. We have supported students to utmost, holding courses for the national examination from the third year, and aiming to pass it for all.

At the Division of Child Care and Early Childhood Education of the Department of Social Welfare, a broad foundation of learning is combined with the acquisition of specialized knowledge and care techniques with a focus on disciplines such as child care, pediatric psychology, and pediatric health. We train childcare professionals and kindergarten teachers with excellent practical skills that are experts in supporting the development of children. Our programs also pave the way for further graduate studies that train highly-specialized childcare professionals who can take leadership positions in fields of childcare policy, management, research, and practice. Discussions and role-plays incorporating key examples provide practical, experiential social work learning.

Comprehensive study of general social work and welfare

In the Social Work Course of Major of Social Work in the Division of Social Work, all participants study welfare broadly with the goal of passing the national examination for Certified Social Workers.

We train professionals capable of engaging in the many aspects of social work using practical learning involving discussions and role-plays that incorporate key examples in studies that combine the necessary fundamentals with practical advice and assistance.

Major of Care Work, Division of Social Work
The aim of this program is for students to acquire Care Nurse and Social Worker licenses.

Students acquire the national Care Worker qualification, gaining a high level of specialist knowledge, skills and techniques related to caring for the elderly and people with disabilities. Students also master the various social welfare-related systems and legislations and acquire the practical skills needed to provide comprehensive support, such as the support skills necessary to handle consultations from people using social welfare services, as well as how to operate and manage social welfare facilities. This program aims to cultivate leaders successful in management positions and the running of social welfare facilities.

Major of Mental Health Social Work, Division of Social Welfare
Studying mental health and social welfare

In the Major of Mental Health Social Work of the Division of Social Welfare, a balance of social welfare and psychology studies are provided with the goal of having all participants pass the national examination of Certified Psychiatric Social Workers. We train individuals with a deep knowledge of mental health and counseling techniques who have studied the methods and theories for helping those with mental health problems to ease conflicts in their minds and encourage social reintegration and participation.

Training child care professionals and kindergarten teachers who are specialists in child care support

The Division of Child Care and Early Childhood Education provides specialized studies in not only child care, but also in related fields such as social welfare, clinical psychology, medical science, and mental health in order to provide understanding of problems surrounding children and their various needs. Participants can approach their studies with a broad range of future goals in mind, including working at child welfare facilities such as nurseries and children's nursing homes, as well as at kindergartens and regional child care support centers.
