College of Policy Science, Community and Regional Policy Studies Major(CRPS)

The College of Policy Science was founded in 1994 in response to a growing need for an interdisciplinary approach to solving the increasingly complex issues in society such as poverty, demographic shifts, urbanization, energy problems and environmental change. Policy Science is an academic field which seeks to clarify the causes of these social problems and explore solutions in ways that satisfy the maximum number of members or stakeholders in the society.
The CRPS Major strongly focuses on active participation of students in small classes to solve these various problems. Small classes allow students to receive detailed guidance from instructors with a variety of backgrounds. Students can also have a lot of opportunities to gain practical experience conducting social surveys and fieldwork both in Japan and abroad.
