Faculty information

60 years after its founding, Japan's first private social science program continues moving forward.

The Faculty of Social Sciences was founded in 1952, and at that time was the first of its kind in a private University. While directly confronting the social problems of the day, the mechanisms behind those problems were made clear and bold approaches for guidelines to solve those issues were developed.
We are confronted in our lives every day by diverse and complex problems. For example, while they may seem unrelated at first, there are connections between our aging society and local development initiatives. We at the Faculty of Social Sciences are interested in understanding these social mechanisms with a focus on the lives of the individuals in those societies.
The Faculty of Social Sciences offers a broad curriculum and learning experience that covers a broad variety of society's aspects, such as regions and communities, humans and society, the environment, businesses, international society, and media culture. Furthermore, the faculty is drawn from a wide variety of career backgrounds, and will support your university education according to your interests and varied approaches. The Faculty of Social Sciences aims to provide students with a structured understanding of social issues.
