The focal point of the campus is a four-story edifice that houses the Shonan Fujisawa Media Center. The center offers an extensive array of reference materials that contains more than 340,000 books, journal titles and audiovisual resources. In addition to this, it provides online services that allow students to remotely access more than 50,000 e-journals and e-books within its digital library. Students may also use the audiovisual equipment and studios at the center to prepare presentation materials for group projects and research work.
Also, SFC has a well-developed information network infrastructure known as CNS. Students have their own file space (a place to store information) on CNS, where they can focus on creative activities such as assignments and research, using the provided commercial databases and full-scale equipment and application software specialized in video and music editing.
As part of the Miraisozojuku project, the Student Built Campus (SBC) was established by students, faculty members, and alumni in 2015. Students and faculty members of the SBC Joint Seminar are taking the lead in shaping a new section of the campus in the East Zone under the concept of "Creating the Campus of the Future with Our Own Hands."
SBC planned the construction of a total of seven buildings with differing designs and uses, with the goal to plan and manage the buildings themselves and to be involved in all phases--from planning, design, construction, operation, and verification, to disassembly.
In 2020, all buildings have been completed, and in 2023, an on-campus dormitory is going to open.
This project focuses not only on the physical aspects of the building, rather it is on the development of the educational programs and operating system that will take place inside the buildings, envisioning an unprecedented new type of university as a new base for residential education and research.
A fully equipped gym, the Gamma Building features a training room with exercise machines and weights, specialized facilities for judo, kendo, volleyball, basketball, dance and table tennis, and locker rooms and showers.
