Polish your skills and knowledge at Saitama University

Saitama University opened in 1949, and currently has 5 undergraduate schools and 4 graduate schools (the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences opened in the 2015 academic year). As a national-level university, we have about 9,000 students including 532 international students studying to become skilled and valuable members of society. University reforms being implemented from the 2013 academic year continue to strengthen research capability and students' personal development, making Saitama University a "Capital of Knowledge" extending its reach from Saitama out into the world. Furthermore, our development of global human resources is proceeding, and as a "University open to the world", we are training students so that they can excel in global society, and we are accepting more international students and working to further internationalize our campus.

The library has a collection of materials numbering over 850,000 in total, and also provides interlibrary loans (for requesting books and materials from outside the university) to assist in students' education and research activities. While classes are in session, the library is also open on weekends and holidays. In addition, construction of the No. 3 library building is underway and is scheduled to be completed in 2015.

Student Cafeterias

There are two student cafeterias on campus: Keyaki Hall (First Student Cafeteria), and the Second Student Cafeteria, which was remodeled in 2014. The newly-built terrace seating area is popular and always lively with many students. In line with the increasing number of students from other Asian countries, we also provide a Halal menu. Books, school supplies, and other goods are on sale at the University Co-op Store on the second floor of the Second Student Cafeteria.

University Hall

On the first floor of University Hall, there is a lobby, lounge, and a Lawson convenience store with eating and study areas. On the second floor, there are conference rooms and Japanese-style rooms. On the third floor are meeting rooms that can be used for events, as well as music listening rooms.

Sports Facilities

There are many sports facilities on the Saitama University campus where students can enjoy extracurricular activities. Outdoors, there is a running track, a soccer pitch, a baseball field, a rugby field, a handball field, and 12 tennis courts. Indoor facilities include a gymnasium, a pool, a martial arts dojo, and a Japanese archery range.
